Earlier this week, an interview with Mark Andrews was posted on The Scotsman discussing a Brave sequel as well as a new original project. Although the article certainly isn’t a statement that the project is “green-lighted”, it’s nice to hear the reminiscent quality of the Brave project in Mark’s words – “If we got the right story it would be fun to get the gang back together again, add a few more new characters and find out what other Scottish talents are out there that might want to do an animated film”.
However, Andrews also mentioned, “I don’t know if there will be another one. We never make a film at Pixar to have a sequel. It is always nice when you do and we kind of have a philosophy that if we find the right story then we will”. Towards the end of the interview, Andrews confirms (again) that he is working on a new and original project – which he did mention after the Golden Globe win for Brave – “I am currently working on another film, which is original and is being written and directed by me, but that’s all I can say about that”.
We’re excited to see Andrews’ direction and point of view on his upcoming project – and while this new original film is underway, let’s not get too excited about a Brave sequel – it sounds like that’s a pretty slim chance (although the Scotsman article over-zealously states, “Sequel to Disney•Pixar’s Brave on the cards”).
