The Twitter universe and various Pixar websites were buzzing at 1:29 PM EST today as Mike Fleming, of Deadline New York, reported that Andrew Stanton will begin working on a sequel to Finding Nemo. While Mike writes, “I’m told he’s now officially come aboard the Finding Nemo sequel and has a concept the studio loves”. Fleming doesn’t state who he was “told by” or provide any additional details regarding the manner, so at this point, we’re still labeling this as a rumor until further clarification.
The Hollywood Reporter also reported at 2:00 PM EST that Victoria Strouse will be writing the script and Lindsey Collins will be producing the release.
Pixar has recently updated its own website with a page of upcoming release information and as of this point, there is no official listing for a Finding Nemo sequel.
So we have two questions for our readers:
- What do you think the accuracy of this rumor is at this point?
- What do you think of the idea of a Finding Nemo sequel – are you excited or not?
UPDATED at 8:35 PM EST, June 17 – Andrew Stanton has tweeted this interesting post that should bring somewhat of a pause to the rumor mill from spreading even further. Sure, he’s not denying it outright, but let’s just keep this news on the back burner until we hear more.
